and it keeps going and going and going...week 5 Expect the Mutiny
As I walked down the aisle at Home Depot I begin second guessing my measuring tape skills, and wondered if I did it right. If I measured wrong then surely I'd be screaming because that means another trip to Home Depot. At that very moment I reminded myself of how much money I'd save saving energy for my heating bill (big motivator for me)! Another thing that motivates me is wanting to be confident in myself doing these projects so I do not need to pay another person to do it. Luckily I have videos like this one to troubleshoot why the lock doesn't work when it is installed. Some of the highlights of this project:
Great weather on day of project
Got to demolish the old door and frame
Used a Dremel to grind out the door frame (a lot of smoke!)
Insulated new door
Finished in four hours

I hope I never see that old door and frame again

Needed to caulk some wood on bottom to level out bottom of door frame

Finished!

I feel the same way about home improvement projects. I always have such great ideas, and then I need a push to execute! You got this, Dan! Sounds like your brother in law is the umph you needed!
ReplyDeleteAs the wife of a pretty handy guy, I'll just say I always appreciate the work my husband does to complete a home project. 1) it is always cheaper and 2) it is usually done better. So you might just be improving your finances and your marriage by being such a handy man! Great job on the door! All of that in just 4 hours is impressive!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work! I love DIY and feel such accomplishment when it is finished. Now you get to admire your handy work every time you see that door! I am so proud of you!!
ReplyDeleteMy question though, can you drive the HomeDepot flatbed? If so, then you are a pro! I knock so much over whenever I am in charge of that thing!
This is really impressive! I cannot believe all of the amazing things my colleagues can do! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteGreat work!! That looks amazing!!
