Collaborative Web Tools

The first artifact was the one I had the best time creating! I can honestly say that I have never had so much fun working in a small group. At first, I thought this would be a difficult assignment because we were required to collaborate by using the Google suite. I like to think that I am a pro at this but after seeing what others are capable of doing I felt a little overwhelmed.

Our group decided to meet electronically one night at the same time on a Google doc. Here is where we divided up the work and begin our collaborating process. Once that was done the rest is history! We worked though the whole assignment in over about an hour. One of the challenges that I felt happened is sometimes during the planning a team member seemed to get left out. Maybe it was because they were not as fluent on Google docs/slides but they seemed to not do the same amount of work as others. They were not as vocal on making things in the slide which then meant they watched others create. This is something that in person face to face would not become as much as a problem. On the other hand, the convenience of getting together from our own homes might outweigh this minor issue.

This assignment was chosen for my blog because it was so fun to be a part of. I also think it's a wonderful way to collaborate with others from different homes. I have more comfortable using Google throughout this class and think this assignment would be a great thing to use with my fellow PE teachers at other schools.
Google Group Story

The second artifact that was chosen for this class was my classroom connection with a school in Ontario, Canada. This assignment was chosen because it gave my class a new way to be motivated to exercise. Deseronto Public School challenged my school to see if we could do all the exercises they created, then pass the challenge on to another school. I think this was an essential assignment because it did take an immense amount of planning on my end because the exercises could not be done in one class period. It was challenging because some of the exercises were tough for my 3rd graders, like burpees. In conclusion, I would do this challenge each year because it motivates students and is a great way to connect globally to others in my profession!
